WHAT IS UNIQUE? 

WHAT IS SULFUR ASPHALT CONCRETE?

Aerodrome pavement constantly experiences significant loads. Unlike motorways that take only the load from the mass of passing cars, the aerodrome pavement must cope with the dynamic loads from the take-off and landing crafts, constantly experience thermal and mechanical loads from the gas-air jets of aircraft engines, be resistant to chemicals preventing icing, withstand a long-term static load during the parking of multi-ton aircrafts.

Therefore, a structural solution was adopted for the use of the newest sulfur-asphalt concrete additive named “Sulfotex-AB” corresponding to the requirements of STO 5718-005-17725983-2012 Sulfur-Asphalt-Concrete Mixtures and Sulfur-Asphalt Concrete using “Sulfotex-AB” as a Cementing Component. Technical Standards”. Requirements imposed for the aerodrome pavement are different, rather than for the highway. One of the most durable elements of the airfield is undoubtedly the runway.

The Runway Construction begins with the removal of soil and loose rock with its replacement for more durable materials (primary rock)
The result is a prepared base, shaped like a trough. Geotextiles are laid in the base, after which a sand cushion is tamped on top. Then follows a layer of geotextile, on which the rubble is placed.
Above the rubble, there is laid the so-called lean concrete with a thickness of up to 25 cm, and on it - the finishing layer of a very strong 40 cm thick vintage concrete.
